Aluminium Sulfate is a salt with the formula Al2(SO4)3 . It is used in water purification and for chemical phosphorus removal from wastewater. When added to water, aluminium Sulfate causes microscopic impurities to clump together into larger and larger particles. These clumps then settle to the bottom of the container and can be filtered out. This makes water safer to drink.
